About The Role

We are looking for a Technical Manager who will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating technical operations within the Film & TV business. This role involves managing technical workflows, resources, and schedules to ensure successful execution of creative projects. The Technical Manager acts as a vital link between creative and technical teams, ensuring that production goals are met efficiently and to the highest standard.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Technical Oversight:
    • Plan, implement, and manage technical workflows for on-set production, post-production, and delivery phases.
    • Evaluate and recommend hardware, software, and infrastructure solutions to meet project requirements.
    • Ensure smooth operation of all technical systems, including audiovisual, IT, and production-specific technologies.
    • Monitor and troubleshoot technical issues, implementing solutions quickly to minimize disruptions.
  • Team Management & Collaboration:
    • Coordinate cross-functional technical teams, including editors, sound engineers, VFX specialists, and IT professionals.
    • Act as the main liaison between creative teams, production staff, and technical departments to align on project objectives.
    • Provide leadership and guidance to technical staff, ensuring clarity of roles, responsibilities, and expectations.
  • Scheduling & Resource Allocation:
    • Develop and manage detailed schedules for technical tasks and deliverables.
    • Allocate technical resources effectively to meet production timelines and budgets.
    • Anticipate project needs and ensure the availability of personnel, equipment, and support.
  • Vendor and Stakeholder Engagement:
    • Manage relationships with external vendors and service providers, including negotiating contracts and coordinating equipment rentals.
    • Communicate technical updates and requirements to internal stakeholders, maintaining transparency and alignment.
  • Compliance & Best Practices:
  • Ensure adherence to industry standards, including data security, file formatting, and safety protocols.
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and trends in film and TV production.

To succeed as a Technical Manager you will bring the following skill-set and behaviours:

Required:

- Proven experience in technical operations within the Film & TV industry, with a focus on production and post-production. 

- In-depth knowledge of production technology, including camera systems, editing platforms, and media storage solutions. 

- Strong organizational and time-management skills with a proven ability to manage complex schedules. 

- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure. 

- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders. 

 

Preferred:

- Experience with VFX, color grading, or sound mixing workflows. 

- Familiarity with cloud-based production tools and remote collaboration technologies. 

- Certifications in relevant technical disciplines (e.g., Avid, Adobe, IT networking).
