What careers are available in the Service Centres ?

Roles include Service Centre Managers, who have overall responsibility for managing our Service Centre locations and driving the business forward and Hire Controllers who work on our hire desks, ensuring that customers are dealt with promptly and professionally.

Yard Operatives play a key role by cleaning and preparing equipment for our customers and making sure that we have a tidy and safe Service Centre for customers and colleagues.

Sophie, Hire Controller - “I wanted a career rather than a job.”

“Before joining the company, I was at sixth form college and worked in retail but I wanted a career rather than a job. I joined Sunbelt Rentals - as a Customer Service Apprentice based at the Wolverhampton depot and achieved my NVQ Level 3 in Customer Service.

Promoted to Hire Controller

“I’ve since been promoted to Hire Controller in the depot and I deal with customers both face-to-face and over the phone. The company is doing so well that the biggest challenge is making sure all the equipment gets to our customers on time. We always do it though and I love the problem-solving side of things.

“I first started working at Sunbelt 37 years ago on what was a youth training scheme at the time. I joined as a Clerical Assistant, moved onto the hire desk and now I manage two depots in Whitehaven and Carlisle with 34 members of staff.

“When I was first appointed Manager of the Whitehaven depot, we had just two telehandlers and now we have 65 and a fleet of £14 million of equipment! I get a real buzz when we hit our targets and it’s a real team effort. We’re all in it together.
