Customer Service Careers - Taleh's Sunbelt Story

Taleh is currently the Hire Desk Team Leader at our Stockton ROC working within the Customer Service team. They currently look after the hire desks for three different depots across the Northeast of England: Stockton, York, and Newcastle. He has worked for Sunbelt for 2 years, originally starting as a Hire Controller in March 2021. Before joining Sunbelt, Taleh was working as an Account Manager for a Finance Company and didn’t have any previous hire industry experience. We spoke with Taleh about his journey so far with Sunbelt and his transition into the role from outside of the industry, here’s what he shared with us ….. 

Progression “I love working at Sunbelt, I have progressed from Hire Controller to Hire Desk Team Leader in just under 2 years and the people I work with are great, not just in the office but the customers and others within the business. I work with hire controllers, engineers, and managers across different sites which has really helped shape my progression and my learning throughout my time here. When I was looking for a new role and saw a Hire Controller opportunity I jumped at the chance. The potential to progress was apparent and that was something I was looking for. I did my research and found Sunbelt had a strong presence in the market, and it was clear they were different to their competitors” 

Every day is different “Every day is different, and each day brings a new challenge which is great! I always strive to get the best out of each situation, this brings out the best in me and helps me develop and improve myself. Daily, me and my team manage all inquiries, issues, and hire requests and ensure the standard of service provided is always at a high level. Our aim is, to always ensure the customer is happy and their needs are fulfilled.” 

You don’t need industry experience “I started at Sunbelt with no experience in the Hire Industry, and this isn’t something you should be worried about when thinking of applying for a role here. There are plenty of people on hand to help and support, I was given great initial training from the team and was then able to pick up the rest on the job. I had good customer service skills so knew how to interact with people over the phone and in person, I just needed to grow my product knowledge. Speaking to customers daily about our products and equipment, what they are and what they do helped with that. that’s how I’ve been able to progress within the role, everyone is always there to push you forward and drive your success. I won Hire Controller of the Year at our 2022 Hall of Fame Awards; this was great achievement for me and I’m excited to see what the future brings for me!”
