Jack is a Hire Controller at Walsall Wood and has been at Sunbelt Rentals for six months. He joined us fresh out of college, looking to start his career, when his brother-in-law who works in one of our Technical Teams, suggested Sunbelt Rentals.
We caught up with Jack to see how he’s doing and here’s what he shared with us…
I've always been motivated to push myself and take on new challenges
Working at Sunbelt Rentals has been an incredible experience, and I owe it to my brother-in-law for recommending the company. As someone who has always been interested in the construction industry, this was a perfect opportunity to get my foot in the door, and I haven't looked back since!
As a Hire Controller, my day-to-day involves reviewing my list of current hires and ensuring that everything is in order for upcoming off-hires. This sets me up to help customers who call in. As the first point of contact for all customer enquiries, my role is essential in keeping the business running smoothly. I deal with all sorts of customer enquiries and need to be able to think on my feet and come up with the best solution for each situation to provide an excellent customer experience.
I mainly help national grid and cadent gas customers, with powered access, plant, and accommodation as my areas of expertise. I've undergone various training courses, which have allowed me to enhance my skills and provide a better service to our customers, which is what it's all about.
The days just fly by, it's a great environment to work in.
There’s five of us in our team, all with different levels of experience. We've got a great team dynamic – we get on really well and all help each other out when there’s a lot of work to do. I actually look forward to coming into the office because we put the work first, but we also know how to have a bit of fun!
Knowing that I can help people when they need it, that’s what makes me feel valued.
When that phone rings, it means someone needs my help. Maybe they need a machine urgently, or they need help operating our equipment. Whatever it is, they're calling because they need something. Being able to help a customer makes me feel valued. It’s such a great feeling being able to call them and let them know their equipment is on the way.
I’m always looking for ways to enhance the customer experience, such as improving my product knowledge as the business. As a team we don’t settle for anything less than the best!
You never know what the future holds…
I’ve learnt so much over the last six months and I’m each day feeling more comfortable in my role as a Hire Controller, which is a big achievement for me.
I'm proud to say that I work for a FTSE 100 company and superbrand like Sunbelt Rentals. The company has been around for so many years and has a great reputation in the industry.
In the future I want to continue to grow in my current role and learn more about the products we offer. I'm particularly interested in pursuing a career in powered access.
But who knows… you never know what the future holds.
